Vauxhall VXR8 2009

 

Hi everybody! Sorry about my lack of new posts this week, but I have been very busy, so the blog fell a bit behind.

Today, we have a Vauxhall VXR8 spotted in Manchester about 2 weeks ago. The VXR8 is Vauxhall's Muscle car. It has a 6.2 V8 engine with 430bhp. 0-62 in 4.9 seconds and top speed of 155mph (250km/h) limited. I know that if you follow the blog properly, you should be telling me: "We have already seen this very car previously!" Yes you have, but my previous post (28-04-13) had the front of the car cut off as it was parked very close to a wall. This time, I am treating you to the full picture! Enjoy!

Vauxhall Monaro

Vauxhall Monaro spotted at the Trafford Center. 5.7 V8 with 328bhp. 0-62 in 6 seconds and 165mph (265km/h) top speed.

Vauxhall Insignia VXR

 

 

Last in a Vauxhall VXR 3-day special, the saloon one, the Insignia VXR. Unlike its smaller sisters, the Insignia has a 2.8 V6 engine underneath the bonnet, which produces 325bhp. 0-62 takes 5.6 seconds and the top speed is limited to the normal 155mph (250km/h) unless you opt for the "Unlimited" option, which allows you to reach 170mph or 270km/h!

Vauxhall Astra VXR

 

Next VXR model, this time the Astra VXR, with an extra preparation (probably a remap of the engine) by Dreamscience. The VXR Astra has a 2.0l turbo engine with 240bhp. 0-62 is done in 5.9 seconds and top speed is 155mph (250km/h) Ii don't know how the remap affects performance, so if you know, leave a comment for us!

Vauxhall Corsa VXR

 

Sports model from the Vauxhall city car range, the Corsa VXR has a 1.6 Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine which produces 192 bhp. 0-62 take the Corsa 6.8 seconds top reach a top speed of 140mph or 225km/h.

Vauxhall VX220

 

Little roadster from Vauxhall, the VX220 or Speedster as it is known in France, shares the same base as the Lotus Elise. This VX220 has the 2.2 145bhp 4-cylinder engine (not the 2.0 turbo). 0-62 takes 5.6 seconds and the top speed is 135mph (217km/h), for a car which weighs less than 1,000kg!

Vauxhall VXR8

 

Vauxhall's answer to the big American muscle cars: the VXR8! Like its predecessor -the Monaro- the VXR8 is powered by a V8 engine. This one is a 6.2l V8 with 430bhp. 0-62 in 4.9 seconds and top speed of 155mph (250km/h) limited, which put the VXR8 in the same performance category as a BMW M3, a Maserati Gran Turismo or a Porsche 911 Carrera!

I am not sure I would buy one (considering you could have the M3 for the same price) but I would definitely go on a track day with it!

 

By the way, the fact that the front of the car does not appear fully is due to the wall of the Manchester car park I was in, rather than my poor ability to take great shots!!!
