Bentley 4½ Litre 1929

Another rarity I spotted in the Lake District two summers ago, is that stunning 1929 Bentley 4½ Litre. It was parked outside a hotel alongside many other (more recent) Bentleys (probably a Bentley convention or the Owners Club out for the day...)
Only 667 of these were produced between 1927 and 1931 and at the time, Bentleys, like Bugattis, were designed with one idea in mind: winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans (which the 4½ Litre did in 1928) At the time, the 4.4l engine produced 110bhp in the touring version (130 in the racing version of the car) and the car set many speed records, achieving 138mph (222km/h) at Brookland in 1932.
Today, a car in such condition would probably set you back £350k+ at auction!
